Can bento lunch boxes go in the dishwasher?

Many can – but always check the manufacturer's care instructions first.

Some lunch boxes are completely dishwasher safe, while others specify top-rack only, maximum temperatures or require seals, lids or other components to be removed and washed separately.

High dishwasher temperatures can also affect printed designs over time, which is why some manufacturers recommend hand washing printed components even when the product itself is technically dishwasher safe.
